On-page Search Optimization

Probably the most effective thing you can do for on-page optimization other than write good content is to optimize your page titles and make sure you have good navigation that is easy to follow.

Create Good Content

Create some quality, targeted, content for each page. If you find yourself drifting into another topic then move that content to a new page and link to it from the previous page. Keep your page content on-topic so your visitors and the search engines can understand what the purpose and value of each page is.

Spell Check and Grammar

Spell check your entire web site and check for grammar too. Be sure it is easy to read and understand for your average visitor, customer, or client. Don't make the mistake of writing just for you, your employees, or competitors but don't leave out industry terms that may be searched for either. Just keep in mind who your visitors are and what terms they might use or understand better than your industry expert terms.

Promote Your Website

Include your web address on all of your marketing materials. Put it in newspaper and magazine ads, pens, hats, everything. You can even put it on your car. You can also use social media or networking to promote your website. You can encourage links to your website with good content and social media marketing.
